Terms of Service

1. Parties and acceptance
These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User", "you") and Unifolio OÜ, a private limited company incorporated in Estonia with registry number 17442831, registered address Juhkentali 8, 10132 Tallinn, Estonia ("Unifolio", "we", "us").
By accessing or using the Unifolio platform at unifolio.io (the "Service"), you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.
2. Description of the Service
Unifolio is a college-matching platform that helps high school students identify universities that fit their academic interests, budget, and preferences. The Service includes:
- A multi-step preference quiz;
- An AI-powered ranking engine that scores and ranks universities against your stated preferences;
- An AI advisor for follow-up questions about match results;
- A shortlist feature for saving and comparing universities;
- An organisation dashboard for counselors and advisors to manage student cohorts (available on the Pro plan).
University data is sourced from the US Department of Education College Scorecard and third-party APIs. All information is provided for informational purposes only and does not constitute academic, financial, or admissions advice.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements.
4. Accounts
Certain features of the Service require you to create an account via our authentication provider (Clerk). You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
You may use the quiz and view results without creating an account ("guest mode"). Guest-mode data is stored only in your browser's local storage and is not associated with any account unless you choose to sign in.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation;
- Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the Service without our prior written consent;
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its underlying infrastructure;
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service;
- Upload or transmit viruses, malware, or any other harmful code;
- Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity;
- Use the Service to send unsolicited communications (spam);
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.
6. Subscriptions and billing
The Service is available on a free tier and a paid Pro plan. Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis. All payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorise Stripe to charge your payment method on the applicable billing cycle.
Cancellation. You may cancel your subscription at any time from your organisation dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you will retain access to Pro features until that date. We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods unless required by applicable law.
Price changes. We reserve the right to change subscription prices. We will provide at least 30 days' notice of any price increase by email and/or an in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of a price change constitutes your acceptance of the new price.
Taxes. Prices are exclusive of VAT and any other applicable taxes. Where required by law, VAT will be added to your invoice at the applicable rate.
7. Intellectual property
All content, software, design, trademarks, and other intellectual property on the Service are owned by or licensed to Unifolio OÜ. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right, title, or interest in the Service or its content beyond the limited licence to use the Service in accordance with these Terms.
You retain ownership of any content you submit to the Service (e.g. quiz responses, AI advisor messages). By submitting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, store, and process that content solely for the purpose of providing and improving the Service.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
University data, match scores, and AI-generated recommendations are provided for informational purposes only. We make no representations or warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any data. Admissions outcomes depend on many factors outside our control; Unifolio does not guarantee admission to any institution.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Unifolio OÜ and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the Service.
Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) €100.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by applicable law.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Unifolio OÜ and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.
11. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or applicable law. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.
You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at [email protected]. Deletion requests will be processed within 30 days.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Estonia, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions.
Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall first be attempted to be resolved amicably by contacting us at [email protected]. If the dispute cannot be resolved amicably within 30 days, it shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Tallinn, Estonia.
If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, you also have the right to use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify you by email or in-app notification at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
